GKIDS has released the first trailer for Look Back, Hirokazu Koreeda’s live-action adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed manga. The distributor will open the film in select theaters on December 30 before expanding nationwide on January 15, 2027. The project is the first live-action adaptation of the story. Look Back follows two young artists whose shared passion for drawing manga shapes their friendship over many years.

Koreeda, a Palme d’Or winner and Oscar nominee, is known for intimate dramas about family and connection. The film premiered at the 2026 Venice Film Festival before screening at several other international festivals this fall. The December opening positions the release within the year-end awards season corridor.
