Paramount+ has confirmed that Criminal Minds: Evolution will conclude with its upcoming twentieth season, ending one of television's longest running crime drama franchises after more than two decades.

The final season is scheduled to premiere in 2027, although an official release date has not been announced.

Originally premiering on CBS in 2005, Criminal Minds followed the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit for 15 seasons before ending its original broadcast run in 2020.

The series returned in 2022 as Criminal Minds: Evolution, with its fifth Paramount+ season, counted as Season 20 overall, set for 2027.

The final installment will feature returning cast members Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and RJ Hatanaka.

Showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer acknowledged the conclusion of the series while expressing gratitude to the cast, production team, and loyal viewers who supported the franchise throughout its history.

Produced by 20th Television and CBS Studios, the drama has remained a recognizable part of Paramount+'s original programming lineup.

With its twentieth season approaching, Criminal Minds prepares to close a television chapter that has followed generations of FBI profilers and captivated audiences since its debut.
