Jude Law is set to play Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in a series written by Jack Thorne, Deadline reported on October 16, 2026. The drama traces Shankly’s transformation of the club against the cultural backdrop of Liverpool in the nineteen-sixties. Liverpool FC first announced the project in 2024 with A24 and Box To Box Films.
Deadline’s updated report states that A24 is no longer involved. Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said Thorne had written the first two episodes and discussions with broadcasters and streamers had begun. Shankly’s granddaughter Karen Gill is involved, with filming planned for Liverpool and Anfield; no premiere date was established in the report.
