Donald Glover is expanding his creative partnership with Netflix, signing on to star, write, direct, and executive produce a live action television adaptation of the globally popular video game PUBG: Battlegrounds.

The ambitious project brings Glover together with his brother and longtime collaborator Stephen Glover, who will serve as a writer and executive producer.

Developed in partnership with game publisher KRAFTON, the series will transform the competitive survival game into a scripted television production for Netflix.

Originally released in 2017, PUBG helped popularize the battle royale gaming genre, challenging players to compete for survival in an increasingly dangerous environment.

The production's executive producing team also includes Michael Schaefer for NEON TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee representing KRAFTON's entertainment subsidiary LV3H.

Donald Glover, whose acclaimed television credits include Atlanta and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, brings experience as both an actor and creative executive to the developing series.

The adaptation joins Netflix's growing portfolio of video game inspired entertainment, including projects connected to Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, and Devil May Cry.

While the streaming platform has not announced additional casting, a production schedule, or a premiere date, the project represents another significant expansion of Netflix's scripted entertainment ambitions.
