CBS News and CNN Retain Separate Leaders in Skydance Lineup

Bari Weiss will retain her CBS News role and Mark Thompson will continue leading CNN under Skydance’s announced leadership lineup, Reuters reported on October 5, 2026. Both news executives will report to David Ellison and co-chief executive Ynon Kreiz. The arrangement preserves distinct leaders for the two news brands.

The lineup places the two news organizations within the combined media company’s management structure. Weiss and Thompson remain individually responsible for their respective news brands. Reuters reported their continued appointments as part of the company’s broader executive announcement.
