The BFI and Chanel announced four winners of their 2026 Filmmaker Awards on October 14. They are Rich Felgate for We, The Hated, Olive Nwosu for Lady, Imran Perretta for Ish and Rachel Taparjan for Something Familiar. Each receives £20,000 in financial support.

The awards recognize the filmmakers’ creative ambition and support development of their practice. The funding can help recipients explore ideas, collaboration and knowledge exchange. The partnership has supported the BFI’s backing of emerging UK independent filmmakers since 2022.
